Cannabis Clubs in Malta Explained

Since Malta opened its first cannabis social club in 2023, the scene has spread like wildfire. As of January 2026, there are 22 licensed cannabis associations operating across the island.

These clubs are officially known as Cannabis Harm Reduction Associations (CHRAs). Their role is simple. Provide cannabis in a safe and responsible way, encourage informed use, and make sure everything is properly tested.

CHRAs operate under licences numbered 001 to 028. Sprawt in Żebbuġ was the first to receive a licence with CHRA 001, while 507 in St Paul’s Bay operates under CHRA 009. Got it?

In our other blog, we’ve already covered legislation, how to join cannabis clubs in Malta, and how to pick the best club for you, so go read it. (No really, go right now. Seriously, go.)

How We Picked these Cannabis Clubs

“Apart from product quality, what is the most important thing? It's service, how you feel. That’s part of the brand. It's everything. Because you have a lot of moving parts when it comes to your clients, and they expect the best.”

Quick disclosure, this list is curated by the editorial team at 507 Cannabis Social Club.

We reviewed tons of reputable sites, blogs, news articles, Google reviews, Reddit, Facebook, Telegram, and first-hand accounts from members we interviewed. As operators, we subjected our own club to the same criteria as the others.

What we looked for

  • Wide selection of high-quality weed
  • Knowledgeable staff who are happy to help
  • A welcoming and inclusive environment

Well let’s get to it!

Founder: Kearney Attard

Location: Buġibba, St. Paul’s Bay

Opening times:

  • Mon-Sat: 09:00-21:00 with a 3 hour lunch break between 13:00-16:00
  • Sun: 09:00-18:00

Atmosphere

The 507 building used to be a hotdog takeout. Now it’s one of the most recognizable cannabis clubs in Malta. Life comes at you fast.

Founder Kearney Attard is personally involved in every step of the operation, and always down for open discussions, to help grow the space. He and his team of green fingered botanical boys work tirelessly to supply members with the finest cup of tea on the island.

The first thing you notice when you walk in – the space has a voice. The logos. The mirrors. The layout. You feel it immediately.

The interior feels more like a movie set than a dispensary. The music is always on point. The budtenders are generous with their smiles.

Kearney puts it best:

“You can compare the club to other subcultures like skateboarding, graffiti or streetwear. Music is also very important. My background in techno shaped how I built the club and how I think about branding - creating something different.”

Weed Quality

507 features the most innovative marihuana technology in Malta, and offers facility tours for passionate members. Genetics are a serious obsession here, and the club is very fortunate to have Julien Lorry from T.H.Seeds lead the genetics program. With 30-plus years of breeding experience, he is one of the most respected guys in the industry.

Strains

With over 80 strains developed and rotated internally, and harvests of 8-12 strains per cycle, the genetic library is massive. It ranges from revived 90s classics like Amnesia Haze, White Widow, OG Kush and Super Lemon Haze, to modern, unreleased crosses.

Standout strains like Bubblenana (Bubblegum x Honeybanana) and Flash (Moroccan Peaches x Bubblegum) are frequently mentioned by members as favourites.

Prices stay intentionally low. 507 is often the most affordable option among the best cannabis clubs Malta has to offer. Premium categories exist, but affordability stays core.

Pipeline

Currently, 507 is collaborating with one of Spain’s most prolific hash makers to provide it’s members with some grade-A, high quality hash.

Future plans also include community events and rolling lessons with live music.

This is the best cannabis club for you, if you are looking for:

  • Being part of a community.
  • Quality flower, engineered and tested with clinical precision.
  • Exciting ideas and an evolving experience.
  • A proud dedication to harm-reduction in a solid legal framework.

Founder: Kenneth Ellul
Location: Gżira
Opening times:

  • Mon-Fri: 10:00-13:00 and 17:00-20:30
  • Sat: 10:00-15:00
  • Wed, Sun: Closed

KDD Society was the first cannabis association to begin legal operations in Malta, marking a regulatory milestone, and it still carries that institutional weight.

When the club opened, it drew over 150 members in just the first 48 hours, widely described as a phenomenal response from the local cannabis community. Members reportedly expressed that it feels good having access to legal and regulated cannabis.

The age range spans from 18 to the 70s – something reflected in its calm, mixed demographic vibe. And not just recreational users – some members joined with medical cannabis licences for therapeutic purposes, though the club does not give medical advice.

The association is grounded in a harm reduction and public health approach rather than commercial profit.

From KDD Society’s website:

“We are dedicated to cannabis harm reduction, offering our community members a welcoming and unique experience focused on well-being, education, and responsible cannabis use for recreational purposes.”

Community sentiment

  • Consistently high flower quality
  • Staff praised for patience and clarity
  • Pricing is often expressed to be on the upper end of the range

Members receive cannabis that is tested for contaminants like microbes, heavy metals and mold, ensuring safer consumption. Very cool guys 👍

Best for members who prioritise stability, compliance, and a mature environment over frequent strain changes or atmosphere.

3. Sprawt CHRA 001

Founder: Andrew Cassar Overend
Locations: Ħaż-Żebbuġ and Żabbar
Opening times:

  • Mon-Fri: Vary between 09:00-20:00
  • Sun: Closed

Sprawt does things differently. They are among the few clubs that let you preorder online. Sprawt is also the only club that offers glass refill jars for €1, cutting down on plastic waste. Eco points earned.

There are also two physical shops. One in the center and one in the east of the island. One of their members mentioned the shops are tiny. We mean tiny. Think two square meters.

Yet the quality speaks loudly. Members report the club had a rough start, but praise strain variety, frequent harvests, and excellent CBD flower.

Every club has their standout maryjane that makes you go… Wow. Here, it’s undoubtedly their flowery Mimosa strain. Reddit users advise you to avoid the grinded options and stick to whole buds. Trust the locals.

A member we interviewed reports the shop features little glass compartments that you can open, showcasing their strains.

“The glass display is pretty cool and definitely catches your eye, especially when it’s a new strain. The smell doesn’t really last forever though, which is kind of just part of displaying weed. After you’ve seen it once, you don’t really need to see it again, but it still works well as a first look.”

4. The Roots Club CHRA 008

Founder: David Caruana
Location: Għargħur
Opening times:

  • Mon-Sun: 10:00-20:00

Roots runs seven days a week. That alone makes it one of the most convenient cannabis social clubs Malta offers.

Roots is popular, modern, and very online. The website is clean. Social updates are frequent, and strain drops get proper announcements with AI-generated cover photos.

Members often mention above-average potency for the Maltese legal market. Signup is reportedly super quick, almost instant. Huge plus in the world of just wanting to pop in-and-out.

A member interview reveals: “It’s located in an apartment house. You have to walk downstairs to get to the club, so we weren’t sure if we’re walking into someones basement type thing. But once you’re inside, their setup feels modern. It didn’t feel like a warehouse or casual grow, like some other clubs.”

Another thing sets them apart is their store microscope, where members can take a closer peek at the weed and reportedly even see the terpenes. Pretty cool!

Roots is very community driven, and you can find them on Facebook Groups and Telegram. Prices sit in the middle of the pack.

5. Northern Lights CHRA 005

Founder: Mirco Andreas Frehner
Location: Gżira
Opening times:

  • Mon-Sat: 13:00-20:30
  • Sun: Closed

Northern Lights offers free membership, something unique across other clubs, even if the CHRA membership fee is usually quite low.

Transparency is their strong suit. Members get a look into:

  • how they monitor for pests
  • the steps they take for quality control
  • how everything is grown locally

It really feels like you’re getting a full, thoughtful service from start to finish. From the seed, all the way to the moment you enjoy the first puff.

Founder Mirco Andreas Frehner is very hands-on in the shop, and regulars describe him and budtender Donna as genuinely passionate and deeply knowledgeable

A comment in their Google reviews shares: “They took the time to walk me through the different types of flowers, what they’re best suited for, and offered genuinely helpful recommendations. The prices are very fair, and the quality is excellent.”

One user mentioned is occasional membership removals for low-volume buyers. Another member noted the wait list was longer than expected, and it took about a month to get in.

This isn’t a complaint exclusive to Northern Lights. Demand is high and long waiting lists are a common occurrence.

6. South Flowers CHRA 007

Founder: Marco Betti
Location: Fgura
Opening times:

  • Mon-Fri: 10:00-20:00
  • Sat: 10:00-13:00
  • Sun: Closed
Image via South Flowers Google Reviews

South Flowers has one of the strongest Google review profiles in the scene. Tons of reviews, almost all of them extremely positive.

Italian-born founder Marco Betti has had several interview and news appearances, describing South Flowers’ origins, the regulatory process, cultivation standards and the challenges of setting up a CHRA as a foreign resident.

South Flowers stands out as a well-established legal cannabis club that has enjoyed international coverage

Members praise good flower, high quality hash, and friendly staff. It sometimes gets referred to as the best cannabis club in the south

Upon completing membership, you gain access to an internal app. It helps track your limits, available strains and even features a live chat.

Variety can feel limited, but consistency is high. You get the fun stuff if you pay for a premium, but there are still good options if you’re on a budget. Their most popular strain is Pijama Party.

7. Exotic Culture CHRA 11

Founder: Kai Merten
Location: Industrial area, Mosta
Opening times:

Mon-Sun: 10:00-19:00 with a 3 hour lunch break

Exotic Culture keeps a low profile. No website. No socials. Very little noise.

Early batches were mixed, but members say quality improved over time. Members remember standout fruity, citrusy strains that people still talk about. Mmm, who doesn’t love a good grapefruit Campari?

While bigger clubs get more general attention, Exotic Culture quietly improves. The club gets acknowledged in official registers and by members, and often gets grouped in club recommendations.

Its central location in Mosta and emerging reputation for quality and community values makes this one to keep an eye on.

What is the Future of Social Clubs in Malta?

Exciting. We are sitting on the thin slice of a very fat wedge.

The stigma cannabis once held in society is vanishing. Your dad might roll up a joint with you now, instead of questioning your life choices.

People love weed, and new legal cannabis clubs in Malta are popping up like wild mushrooms. The island’s humble size and legal framework are creating a unique environment where cannabis culture is thriving.

And people love weed, so

  • Demand is increasing
  • Quality is rising
  • Genetics are improving
  • Clubs are becoming more confident in their identity rather than copying each other.

And did I mention people loooove weed?

It looks like cannabis has finally been given the recognition it deserves. With continued research and scientific developments in the cannabis industry, the future is looking infinitely greener.

Expect better testing, more education, and stronger community spaces. Malta’s small size might end up being its biggest advantage.

Final Thoughts

In addition to the criteria listed above, we also chose these cannabis clubs in our guide, because they are all highly rated by members and have a reputation for providing a positive customer experience.

We understand that everyone has different needs and preferences when it comes to cannabis, so we encourage you to do your own research and visit a few different dispensaries to find the one that is right for you.

If you think we missed a gem, or you just came back from your favourite club and want to share, tell us in the comments.

Dress warm, stay safe and always prioritize responsible cannabis use.
